Vlastimil Beránek is the representative of the third generation of the well-established Beránek glassworks family who made Czech glass history in the 1940s by founding a greenhouse in Škrdlovice. He himself was responsible for glass work from 1992 to 2008. The focus of his personal interest lies in the free creation of sculptures from molten glass. He is particularly known for his mastery of Bohemian glass work. His sculptures have a rigid and elementary form, often at the very limits of the possibilities of technology. They possess a monumental and uncompromising expression, not based solely on the inner aesthetics of the glass or on a unique view of the frame. They claim their own space. They are totally unique glass sculptures.
