Pierre Le Faguays (1892-1962)
French Art Deco style sculptor.
Art deco bronze sculpture representing a dancer holding a thyrse. Marble base.
Signed on the marble terrace.
Dimensions: H: 57cm
A student of Vibert at the École des Beaux-Arts de Genève, he works with various publishers including Max Le Verrier, his great friend, the Susse foundry, Etling, and the nephews of J. Lehman among others. His style is close to that of Demetre Chiparus. He takes part in his first exhibition at the Salon de la Société des Artistes Français in 1922. He receives an honorable mention there in 1926 and another honorary mention, in the Sculpture section, in 1927.
Very prolific, his work covers materials as varied as marble, stone, terracotta, bronze, ivory and alabaster. He is particularly inspired by the statues of "Tanagra". He most often works on live models, hence the impetus of his decorative objects, often women in movement.
