Lot 138 - Rare "Clam" armchair by Philip Arctander (1916-1994)

Philip Arctander is a Danish architect.
In 1944, among five other independent architects, he was asked to design furniture in a competition sponsored by the newly opened supplier and shop NY FORM A / S in Copenhagen. Arctander's contribution was striking: the Muslingestol (Clam chair) with natural wooden legs supported by sheepskin. The piece immediately benefited from a limited release in Copenhagen, both by NY FORM A/S and Nordisk Staal & Møbel Central.
