Auguste Trémont born in 1892 in Luxembourg is a painter and sculptor trained at the National School of Decorative Arts in Paris. He was a great fan of the Jardin des Plantes and more particularly of its menagerie, and was passionate about animal sculpture, in which he became a specialist. His most famous and emblematic sculpture remains his pair of lions adorning the entrance to the Luxembourg City Hall.
