Ognian Zekoff is an internationally recognized Bulgarian painter whose works are recognizable by his mastery of the use of light and darkness. Remaining faithful to the classical and universal painting techniques, he never works from a photograph but only from objects and living models. He has the talent to transcribe all the visual characteristics of the subject; every wrinkle, fold and line of the hands, every minute detail of a body or an object. Hands are one of his favorite subjects, he considers them as the most expressive parts of the human body.
Ognian Zekoff is present in numerous private and institutional collections, including the Cité Internationale des Arts foundation in Paris, and the National Museums of Contemporary Art in Bulgaria and China. He exhibits in many art fairs in Europe, North America and Asia, and won the special selection prize at the second International Painting Biennale in Beijing in 2005.
