Mel Ramos was inspired, at the beginning of his career, by the imagery of American comics, by painting the effigies of Batman or Flash Gordon. He quickly took on the theme of the pin-up, which made him famous thanks to his paintings that associated naked female figures with consumer products. He is considered a major figure of the Pop art movement and presented as an adventurous artist with the creativity and sense of humor necessary to stay on top.
