Camille Hilaire was born on August 2, 1916 in Metz. Graduated in painting in 1930, he begins to draw and paint alone and then under the guidance of Durer. He then attracted the attention of Jean Giono and Nicolas Untersteller. During his military service in Paris, he had the chance to continue his studies, see exhibitions, visit museums and draw in free academies. In 1941, he enrolled at the Beaux-Arts, in the Untersteller studio and had his first exhibition in 1942 at the Salon d'Automne. In 1947, he was appointed professor of drawing and decorative composition at the Ecole Nationale des Beaux-Arts in Nancy. In 1957, he was appointed to the rank of Chevalier des Arts et Lettres. And in 1958, he finally became professor of drawing at the National School of Fine Arts in Paris. It is in the 70's, that Camille Hilaire develops a new theme "The woman".
Camille Hilaire exhibits all over the world (Portugal, Italy, Spain, Japan, Switzerland, United States, England, Sweden...) where he receives many awards. In addition, many works have been acquired by the city of Paris or institutions such as the Faculty of Medicine of Nancy, the museum of Metz or the University of Toulouse.
