Dolores Ling was born in Vienna in 1932 to a Chinese father and an Austrian mother. Since her childhood, Ling lives in a universe where Art is present. At a very young age, she studied classical dance at the Vienna Opera School. At the same time, she continued her training in music and theater.
Thanks to the influence of her parents, she studied language and art history at the University of Vienna and Far Eastern art history at the University of Hamburg. In America, she studied lithography at the School of Art Institute of Chicago and other printmaking techniques at Loyola University.
Extended stays in Germany, Eastern Europe and the United States allow her to enrich her artistic experience.
From these mixed influences of the Far East and the West, of dance and Chinese calligraphy, Ling has developed a gestural and lyrical painting that is as much abstract as it is figurative.
Built from a symbolism inspired by Asian philosophies, his painting is a sign, a bridge between the symbolic language of Asia and representative pictorial art.
