Alexis WAGNER was born in Luxembourg on July 20, 1929. He began his artistic training at the Ecole des Arts et Metiers in Luxembourg, which enabled him to join Lucien Wercollier's studio for a time. He continued his training in Paris at the Académie Julian, where he became a pupil of Fernand Leger from 1949 to 1950. In 1955, he perfected his skills under the guidance of Paul Delvaux at the Abbaye de la Cambre in Brussels.
Alexis Wagner went on to study in Florence, Rome, Genoa, Pisa and Venice, from which the paintings presented here are largely inspired.
