Moulded and carved mahogany and mahogany veneer cabinet in the Louis Majorelle style, with reed decoration on a marquetry background. Opening with two leaves in the lower part, a central drawer, two niches open on either side. Top beveled mirror surrounded by carved mahogany hazelnut appliqué. Rich bronze ornamentation decorated with dragonflies. Gilded bronze pull handles and key escutcheons. Original key.
Restoration due to use and maintenance.

Biography :
Louis Majorelle was a French cabinetmaker and decorator of the late 19th century. His furniture is based on the curves, biomorphism and decoration characteristic of the Art Nouveau style. His early work was inspired by Rococo, before falling under the influence of Émile Gallé and the École de Nancy movement of the 1890s. Born Louis-Jean-Sylvestre Majorelle in Toul on September 6, 1859, Majorelle began his career as a painter, studying at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris in 1877 before inheriting his father's furniture business and moving to Nancy. Majorelle designed the Villa Majorelle in collaboration with architects Lucien Weissenburger and Henri Sauvage, which has since been acquired by the city of Nancy, where he died on January 15, 1926.
