Bettina Scholl-Sabbatini, born in 1942, is the daughter of sculptor Aurelio Sabbatini. She studied sculpture and ceramics at L'istituto d'arte in Sesto Fiorentino, before attending the Académie de la Grande Chaumière in Paris to study painting and drawing. His ceramic, stone and bronze works are often found in Luxembourg churches. Her involvement with Soroptimist, of which she became vice-president, took her to Africa, where traditional art impressed and influenced her.
