Luxemburger WORT Luxusuhren bringen 2,4 Millionen Euro ein

198 of the 202 examples on offer found a new owner. The return was higher than for the first edition.
202 luxury watches were put up for auction on Saturday at the Casino 2000 in Mondorf, and 198 found buyers. This is what Michel Turk, Director of the Bureau de gestion des avoirs (BGA), told the “Luxemburger Wort” when asked. The BGA had commissioned the auction, as it had done in June last year.

The 198 watches, most of which came from the private collection of real estate entrepreneur Flavio Becca, generated total sales of around 2.4 million euros, as Michel Turk further reveals. Once the project is completed, all profits will be donated to a public fund that supports the fight against money laundering, drug trafficking and the financing of terrorism.

In June 2024, 150 watches were on sale in the first part of the auction, 147 of which changed hands. At the time, sales totaled 1.8 million euros.

In 2022, Flavio Becca was given a one-year suspended prison sentence for money laundering and misappropriation of social funds.  At that time, the 842 watches worth 18 million euros were also confiscated. The prosecutor had accused Becca of having paid for the watches with money from her company, even though the watch collection was a private investment.
